Designed with disability in mind, eight secluded log cabins are situated next to a 20 acre lake. The pathway around the perimeter is completely accessible by wheelchair as is the bird hide. A powered boat is also available that is purpose built for wheelchairs (See Photo)

Isle of Wight:

The Kingswood Centre - Isle of Wight - (Recommended) The UK's leading centres for education and adventure. Matthew visited this centre with his school for a week in June 2007, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were more than happy to ensure he was able to participate in most activities one way or another. We did have to provide a carer for Matthew's personal and toileting needs. The carer was provided with her own accommodation throughout the week. We had to work closely with the Development Manager of the Kingswood Group to discuss his individual requirements.

Leicestershire:

Whitehouse Hotel - Kegworth (Recommended)
Good size family rooms with large bathrooms enabling wheelchair access.

A lift is provided to gain access to different floors. The restaurant provides excellent food and is large enough for wheelchairs. Ideal location for the National Space Centre and The Attenborough Nature Reserve on the River Trent (see Fun Days Out)

Northumberland:

The Hytte - Bingfield Nr Hexham (Highly recommended) - A four bedroom accessible self-catering holiday cottage with fully accessible shower and toilet. An electric hoist is also provided. Awarded silver for the Sustainable Tourism Award and "Gold" for Access for All Tourism category.

Calvert Trust - Kielder - (Recommended) Fully accessible activity centre in the magnificent Northumberland countryside. The large wooden chalets are well maintained and provide full accessibility to toilets, bath, showers and kitchens. The bedroom also has a tracked ceiling hoist.

North Yorkshire:

Stonelands Farmyard Cottages - Litton Nr Skipton (Highly Recommended)
Very tranquil location. Ground floor cottages have ramps for wheelchair access. We stayed in "Tansy Close", which has a large bathroom to allow wheelchair access. A hoist is not supplied in any of the cottages.

Somerset:

The Halfway House Inn Country Lodge - Nr Yeovil - Disabled suite including connecting double bedroom for carer.

 

 

Holly Farm Holiday Cottages - Taunton - The Linny is designed for people with restricted mobility. The rooms have wide doorways and are all on the ground floor; there are no steps. Special adaptations include a raised WC, lever taps and touch bedside lights. The carpeted bedroom and lounge make it difficult for hoists and powered chairs. The power shower has a sloping floor and a shower chair can be supplied. Both the heated swimming pool and hot tub are accessible. An Oxford hoist is available for the pool.

Staffordshire:

Holiday Inn - Stoke on Trent M6 Jct 15 - (Recommended) - Good size family rooms with large bathrooms enabling wheelchair access. The restaurant provides excellent food and is large enough for wheelchairs. A swimming pool with Jacuzzi is available to all residents. An outdoor play area consisting of slide, swings and Climbing Frames is also available. There is plenty of designated parking spaces for disabled drivers. Ideally situated for Alton Towers.

West Sussex:

St Andrews Lodge Hotel - Chichester - Purpose built wheelchair room can accommodate two wheelchair users.

 

 

West Yorkshire:

Heath House - Ossett - Bed & Breakfast accommodation with three wheelchair accessible rooms on the ground floor.

 

 

Wiltshire:

Offering excellent facilities for the disabled with sliding doors and wheel in showers. 

 

 

Worcestershire:

Starline Marine Ltd specialises in the building and refitting of narrow and wide beam boats for people with disabilities.

Starline Marine Ltd have designed, fitted lifts, hoists, disabled bathrooms and galleys. We have developed, in conjunction with TEC Technology, a remote joy stick steering and engine control system, to complement conventional tiller / wheel steering, and the engine throttle & gear controls.

To date Starline Marine Ltd has built boats for:
